Queensbury Union Free School District- Work Here. Live Here.

We are lucky. People don’t know how lucky we are. I remember going home distinctly and saying
to my husband “we are moving to Queensbury”. As I’ve lived here more and more, the real
sense of community has shown itself each and every year. I feel so fortunate every day as I pull on
to campus that I can call this place home. I am born and raised in Queensbury. I attended Queensbury schools K-12. I had such a wonderful experience and relationship
with a lot of teachers and educators here that I wanted to always come back to the place
that gave me so much, and give that back to my students. I moved here about 15 years ago. I didn’t know anybody, but what I found was
I fell in love with the area immediately. I fell in love with the proximity to the Adirondacks. having your children grow up here there are
a lot of things that they have exposure to and opportunities for. We really enjoy going up and hiking, or just
hopping a train and going to New York City or Boston. You’re just so close to a lot of different
events, activities, opportunities for kids. We’re so blessed to be able to have so much
to do without leaving and having to travel anywhere. Every day when I drive on to campus I take
in the beauty of the mountain that surround the school. I always thought how fortunate my children
were to be in this district, not only from the standpoint of all the support they get,
but it just felt so right to be surrounded in this community. Its a great place to work. I’m from Queensbury, it is so nice to work
in the same town, I’m close to my family. I’ve got a few nieces and nephews that go
to school here, it’s nice bumping in to them. They all say “Hi Uncle Matt”. I was just so impressed. I hadn’t been part of a community like this
growing up. The partnership between school, community,
and the Parks and rec department, to really offer our kids so many different choices. I really believe in the academic programming
at the early levels, and certainly with the IB program and so many different opportunities
and pathways, I knew our kids – no matter what direction they took- they would find
a path for them. We really wanted to pick the best school district
possible for our children and Queensbury met every single requirement that we had. From the stellar academics that they offer
here on campus, to extracurricular activities, sports, and the Arts in Ed program, as well
as the wonderful community events that are happening all year long.
