I’ve always been in commercial banking and decided that Penticton in the Okanagan is where I wanted to be. So I had a look around and decided that if I joined
Valley First it would be a great opportunity― Lots of advancement opportunities in the credit union without having to move to a big city. So I joined 11 years ago and since then I’ve worked my way through different roles, and about six months ago I moved into the role
that I’m in right now as the regional manager, commercial banking
for the South Okanagan. I was nominated by First West Credit Union for the National Young Leader Award the Canadian Credit Union Association
gives out each year. There was five of us that were selected and given this national award which was a really great experience, just a nice honour. After that we were asked to be part of a national young leader committee for the credit union system. My favorite part is when you get to go out to
the member’s place of business. They are so passionate about what they do. They love to tell you about what they’re working on and tour you around their facilities or their developments. Or even if it’s just coffee or lunch with members, just the relationships that we form with those members. They’re very rewarding.
