Destination: ACC — Enrolling at Austin Community College

Hi there! My name is Shannon
and I’m an ACC student. We’re all students and advisers
here and you’re about to embark on a life-changing experience. Getting started can feel a bit
overwhelming, but don’t worry. Taking the enrollment process
one step at a time will get you where you need to be
before the semester starts. So, let’s get started. First thing that you want
to do is head on over to the enrollment page
at austincc.edu/enroll. That’s where you’ll find
all of these instructions AND the “Destination: ACC” map. Print it out and use
it as a checklist. Step one… Submit your application. After you’ve applied online, you’ll get a special I-D account
– we call it your ACC-EID. It’ll get you logged in to all
the college’s online services including your e-mail. You have to complete
Steps 3 and 4. This is your residency form
and your official transcript. It’s a good idea to
go ahead and turn both of these in at the same time. If you’re under the age of 22
you may need a meningitis shot. All the details are
found on our website. Next, you’ll want to check out
your financial aid options. It may save you money. Go online and fill out
the FAFSA or TAFSA. It can take six to eight weeks
to process, so don’t wait. You’re almost ready to
meet with an advisor. First, visit student services,
drop off your residency form and your transcript, and
confirm your TSI requirements. That’s a test that tells your
advisor what classes you need. And then take orientation. It’s easy. You can take it online,
anytime, anywhere. It’s filled with tips
for new students. Now grab your “Destination: ACC”
checklist and visit an advisor. They’ll make sure you
have everything you need to set your schedule and
your classes next semester. Congratulations, you’re about
to be the next ACC Riverbat!
