Cultural Competency and Spirituality

Well good afternoon. Uh This is another hot topic. Uh do note for
this week I’ll be checking the discussion board and email daily when I can, as toward the end of the week I’m on my uh bucket list cruise. I also can call you
when I dock if needed. So let’s get started. Look around you. Is everyone like you? Does everyone pray like you? Does everyone eat the
same foods as you do? Does everyone should speak the same
language? How might you communicate with someone who
doesn’t understand your language? Think about how do we become more
culturally competent? And here are two reports uh that call for cultural competence. What about spirituality? Does everyone believe what we believe? How
might we accommodate different faiths within the healthcare
environment? How do we care for patients whose fatih is
different from our own? Separating religion and spirituality is a distinctly Western concept? Now perhaps challenging part. Visit at the
Race Card Project. Post your six word thoughts. If you
choose. And if you choose share on the
discussion board. This is act good family activity. So, how do you practice cultural
competence? How do you attend to patients spiritual
needs? Reminder, your portfolio is due on April 20th, in order to avoid study
week per University policy. but if you need a few extra days email
me and have a great week.
