The mystery UFO appears for about 4 seconds on the 16mm film – in a total of 50 frames. The object appears near the moon, but it then moves out of view as the camera pans away. As the camera moves back, the object is still there. The thing was described as a classic extraterrestrial craft.. “a saucer-shaped object with a dome on top.” The thing was described as a classic extraterrestrial craft… “a saucer-shaped object with a dome on top.” In 2004 NASA suggested the UFO may be a flood light from the Apollo 16 lander, but skeptics remain unconvinced. The figure appears to be that of a tall alien being whose form is casting a long shadow. Futher analysis of the image in relation to the size of the known craters also in the area indicate the being would be 150 feet tall. The figure bears a striking resemblance to descriptions of the ancient Greek Colossus of Rhodes. Could it be an ancient lunar monument? NASA’s official explanation is that the image may be caused by dirt on the lunar mission’s camera lens. #3 Moonbase Launched in 1994, NASA’s Clementine spacecraft caputured images of a bizzare V-shaped formation on the dark side of the moon. The feature is formed by two rows of seven lights and appears to be far too symmetrical to be of natural origin… It measures approximately 500 feet by 420 feet and is located in the Mare Moscoviense, a massive and oddly, smooth crater. The suspicious object has been dismissed as a digital anomaly in the image, but many believe it is evidence of a secret moonbase… An idea not so far-fetched, given that the U.S. has had plans for a military base on the moon as early as 1959 under “Project Horizon.” #2 Lunar Target On October 9, 2009, NASA sent its LCROSS spacecraft on a kamikaze mission to bomb the moon. A 2.2 ton rocket was shot from LCROSS into the Cabeus crater on the moon’s south pole. Shortly after impact. LCROSS was to crash to its death diving into the debris cloud while collecting data. Observers on earth were expecting a fireworks show, but there were no billowing plumes of debris to be spotted… A curious photo seen on the desk of a NASA employee during the mission raised suspicions that the rocket was targeting a lunar building. In the impact zone a large cube structure can be seen. Its destruction may explain the lack of lunar debris from the ballistic strike. # 1 Lunar Sprites The apperance of UFOs was not the only supicious phenomenon captured on camera by the NASA Apollo misions… One intriguing 1972 image appears to show a powerful electric discharge near Stein Crater on the far side of the moon. Conspiracy theorists seized on the photo as being evidence of a subterranean power plant or energy refuelling station for alien craft. The electric discharge appears similar to that of lighting “sprites” seen in Earths’s upper atmosphere during powerful thunderstorms. However, the feature is most likely an imprint of a static spark within the spacecraft’s camera as the film rotated through its system. Thanks for watching!
